Automotive & automation

EP - Ehrler Prüftechnik Engineering has stood for precision and reliability for 25 years

Tested by EP – a quality characteristic for companies in the automotive and automation industries. In 25 years, we have made our mark with famous customers like Daimler, Porsche or Bosch and have advanced to the market leader in Germany.

Our applications in the automotive sector include component test benches for numerous engine components, like e.g. exhaust turbochargers, hot-film air flow meters or heat exchangers. The measurement ranges for these systems start at approx. 1 l/h (10-3 m3/h). With an appropriate compressor (vacuum pump), up to 10,000 m3/h are possible.
A test bench with 12 Laval nozzles with dual nozzle grading allows to set 212 discrete flow steps (i.e. 4,096 step) in flow increments of the smallest nozzle – at highest precision with a measurement accuracy of up to 0.14%.Here are two examples of test benches which we developed for automotive customers:

Combined test bench for air filters and air flow meters (HFM)

The unit is designed for laboratory tests of air filters in combination with air flow meters for combustion engines in vehicles (HFM). The air flow meters are tested in combination with filter modules at different dirt load. Tests are possible up to a mass flow of approx. 2,500 kg air/h.

Function test bench for natural gas valves

This development test bench is used to test natural gas injection valves using nitrogen as test medium. The test bench is designed as a manually loaded test bench with automated capturing of measurement data and control. The absolute pressure in front of the test item and the rear pressure behind the test item are controlled. The bench also measures the gas mass flow at the same time. Testers operate the test bench in standing posture via keyboard with integrated trackball. The unit features an OSD in English.
