A test bench must correspond exactly to the requirements of your application. Standard solutions often cannot be used. We therefore offer you customized solutions for your metrological applications in the areas of volume and mass flow, pressure control, the measurement of small gaseous quantities as well as high pressure and high temperature testing. Of course, we check in advance whether an existing method can be adapted to keep the costs as low as possible. If we cannot customize any standard solution, we develop a new solution together with you.

Case study 1: Gas & flow metrology: High precision calibration of flow meters for natural gas

The facility serves as a standard for gas meter calibration in a range from DN50 to DN400. The natural gas is taken directly from the pipeline for this purpose and subsequently fed back. The system consists of a pipe test section as a primary standard and critical nozzles and turbine wheel gas meters as reference standards. The pipe test section itself is traceable to the variables of length and time. It is equipped with a length and diameter measurement device.

Case study 2: Gas & flow metrology: primary standard for critical nozzles, gas meters, differential pressure sensor, etc. in the atmospheric range

The cylindrical, closed on top hollow body (bell cylinder) sinks into a jar filled with sealing liquid and thus displaces the trapped air volume. Depending on the rate of descent of the bell, a volume flow is generated. The gas-measuring bell serves as a primary standard for the representation of the unit volume flow (m3/ h) of gas. The described system is an identical replica of the gas-measuring bell of the National Metrology Institute of the Federal Republic of Germany (PTB) in Braunschweig. The calibration device is operated with air.

Case study 3: Automotive: thermal shock test bench for intercooler / Automation: thermal shock test bench for air / air cooler

The system is used to test direct intercoolers. The supply of charge air is carried out through a side channel compressor and the temperature control of the charge air occurs via an electric heater. The mass flow control occurs by means of an inline adjusting butterfly valve with a precision of about 5%. The mass flow is measured with a thermal air mass sensor. A radial fan generates cool air and sucks ambient air through the device under test. The accuracy of the mass flow measurement of the cooling air through a Venturi tube is also 5%. The system is controlled via a PLC with an HMI touch panel. Alternatively, the system can also be operated with a PC.
