Top 100 Seal

EP Engineering was awarded the Top 100 seal as one of the most innovative companies in the German SME segment.

On June 24, 2016, EP Engineering GmbH was awarded the Top 100 seal for the second time at the German SME Summit in Essen, which is awarded to the most innovative companies in the German SME segment every year. "Top 100" mentor Ranga Yogeshwar presented the award to the CEO's Gerald Ehler and Oliver Hammel in the category of "Innovative Processes & Organization."

The award was based a two-step analysis, developed by the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Vienna University of Economics. Scientists here study the innovation management and innovation success of SMEs based on over 100 parameters in five categories. The scientific management alone decides who is awarded the "Top 100" seal.

More than half of the employees have an engineering background

At EP Engineering, there are many brilliant minds involved in the innovation processes, which made the company particularly convincing, especially in the category of "Innovative Processes & Organization." More than half of the 50 employees have a background in engineering.

Each project comes up with new requirements. Typically, customers want to perform a measurement process that they cannot cover with their own devices. EP Engineering checks to see if they can adapt an existing process or if a new solution must be devised. "Thanks to this constant innovation, the measuring times and the sizes of the measurement systems have been reduced significantly," explains CEO Oliver Hammel.

Competition factor: Good ideas and their rapid implementation

The aim of the family-owned company that was founded in 1983 is to tap into additional markets. EP Engineering thus wants to lean more on innovation marketing in the future. The company already has close contact with universities and institutions and large industrial partners. "Sometimes we are even involved in the basic research of our customers. The prerequisites for innovative solutions really cannot be better," says Hammel.

"Our good ideas and their quick implementation are a key competitive factor for us," Hammel further explains. "That's why we invest a lot of time and effort into our innovation management. We rely on the creativity of all employees in the process. They deserve our thanks for achieving the Top 100 award."
