BP Bell Prover

Calibration and transfer standard with highest accuracy

The gas measuring bells provide a primary standard for flow calibration with air. The system is based on a technology of the PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, Braunschweig) which has been proven for many years and is used worldwide in national metrology institutes for the calibration of nozzles and other standards such as gas meters, differential pressure transmitters etc.

BP250 – Bell Prover, System PTB

Flow range1…250 m³/h
Measurement uncertainty
(2.5 m³/h…160 m³/h)
Version A: ≤ 0.06% (k=2)
Version B: ≤ 0.15% (k=2)
Measuring timet ≥ 20 s
Operating pressure1100 Pa

Measuring principle

Generates a flow into a standing vessel filled with barrier liquid and displaces the enclosed air volume. Depending on the sinking speed of the bell, a volume flow is generated, which in turn can be traced back to the SI units length and time.

Features

  • Measurement uncertainties up to 0.06% (k=2)
  • Direct calibration of sonic nozzles and other flow adjusting test items
  • Infinitely adjustable volume flow
